This is Annie Leonard, who lives in San Francisco (my dream) in a 1,200 sq foot bungalow that is also home to 10 of her friends. They lived together in a house in DC and then coupled up and procreated...and decided they needed more space. So they took over a city block. Six houses on a single block! They call it a kampung, which is a Bahasa Indonesia term for a compound where a bunch of families live. They've taken down the fences in order to have shared backyards and incredible gardens. She says it's like living in a Monet painting with all of her best friends. Let's neglect the fact that this sounds like Big Love, families living a bit too close for comfort. Mormons? Swingers? NO. Just a bunch of best friends living the life. Bliss? I think so. Friends? Let's do it.
